Claude Giraud has the soul and spirit of a truly exceptional winemaker using only the best Gauthier-Merrain oak barrels from the local certified “Argonne Forest” alongside the most advanced and cutting-edge press-system and egg-shaped “cuves Nomblot” (designed from the Golden Series of Fibonacci with a material inspired from the Roman “Dollas”). In 2008 Claude Giraud began the conversion to Bio-Organic methods, bringing down pesticides by 60%. The winery also practices permanent grass planting and rye-grass sowing in the winter, which makes up the best eco-friendly environment for the vines. A family with twelve generations of passion and commitment dedicated to the utmost quality of their work…François Hémart established the household in the vineyards of Aÿ in 1625, at the same time that Dom Pérignon started his historical work at the Abbey of Hautvillers. In 1970, Claude decided to enlarge the production and become a “Grande Maison de Champagne”, allowing everyone to experience the intense pleasure of this magnificent Champagne.
